Over 110 years of tradition.
Our story
The Mosman Park Junior Football Club, known as the Redbacks, is a community-based club that welcomes all players from Pre-Primary to Year 10s. We’re focused on making football fun and providing all the health and social benefits of playing together in a team with your friends. We pride ourselves in creating a safe and well-organised environment for players and their families.
Our vision
Our vision is to foster an inclusive club for all culture and community environment where we support and develop our junior players through football and club operations that are enjoyable, united, selfless and accountable.
Our mission
Our mission is to develop a friendly, fun and inclusive grassroots football club where our players, parents, volunteers and members feel a sense of enjoyment, team spirit, club and community belonging.
In 1906, two years before Richmond joined the VFL and 20 years before Claremont Football Club played its first game, there was a football club in Mosman Park. The team had the less than inspiring name of The Cottesloe Second Rate Football Club, and games were played at Davis Oval, affectionately known as the “Prickle Patch” by the players.
During the World Wars, footy took a back seat but in 1946 the club was revived and was reborn as the Mosman Park Football Club. In 1980, the seniors moved to new headquarters at Tom Perrott Reserve, while the juniors kept playing at Mann and Davis Ovals.
In the last few years, the club has grown bigger than ever. In 2010, the juniors joined the seniors at Tom Perrott, to make room for younger kids at Mann and Davis playing Auskick, which continues to get more and more popular among the local girls and boys.
The Mosman Park Redbacks have two home grounds. Auskick happens every Sunday from 9am to 10.30am at Mann and Davis Ovals, just off Lochee St. The Juniors play at Tom Perrott Reserve on McCabe St. Teams from Year 3 to Year 10 play Sunday and train usually once a week from 4.30 to 5.30. The Home & Away season begins in late April, and training starts April.
Our ‘formal’ song.
No-one can remember who wrote it or when it started but the players wearing red and black have sung this song proudly for many years:
The Mossie kids are happy. The Mossie kids are free.
The Mossie kids are jolly good kids, jolly good company,
We never fight or quarrel. We never disagree.
We all come down when (name) says, come have a kick with me.
Our ‘informal’ song.
Incy Wincy Spider
Climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain
And washed poor Incy out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
So Incy Wincy Spider
Had another go!

Redbacks for Life.
Every year so many people give their time to the club. Where would we be without our amazing volunteers! At MPJFC we like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of those special people who have demonstrated significant and sustained service to our Club by awarding them a Life Membership. Here is our honour board.
